    Description

Probably dating back to circa 1910, this is a "fairling", so-called because they were often acquired at Fairs, although this was more likely purchased at a shop in downtown Abilene. This fairling is a little china purse with two gold painted pigs (or bears, you decide) peeking out of it. Could hold toothpicks or other incidentals, but more likely designed simply to be displayed in the china cabinet. This one has an image of the "First Street Bridge, Abilene Kans". I believe this bridge was replaced years ago. Unmarked, but probably made in Germany.
Measures about 3 1/2" long at its longest point.
Condition: Nice condition, but with typical wear to the snouts, ears and hooves (paws) of our animal friends....
